Navigate your lab test experience smoothly with these essential guidelines.
Fasting:
Some blood tests like lipid and glucose tests will require you to fast for at least 8 hours. This means that no food or drink (except plain water) is allowed.
Stay Hydrated:
Drinking plenty of plain water helps the phlebotomist find a vein more easily.
Dress Comfortably:
Wear a shirt with sleeves that can be easily rolled up for easy access to your arm.
Relax:
Take a deep breath and try to relax. If you’re nervous, let the phlebotomist know; they are there to help make the experience as comfortable as possible.
Post-Blood Draw Care:
After the blood draw, keep the bandage on for a few hours and avoid heavy lifting on that arm.
If you feel lightheaded, inform the phlebotomist immediately.

Minimum 6 hours fasting (Plain Water allowed).
